HOLIDAY DOGS is a new local service designed to help loving doggy owners (like myself!) to find appropriate home boarding for their best friends. Most people nowadays prefer to board their dog within a loving home environment, maintaining their pets routine and ensuring they are happy and content as they are with you. This is, after all the perfect alternative to kennelling! However it’s not always easy to find the perfect dog loving carer who can offer all of these things – well LOOK NO FURTHER! Due to the increasing demand of home boarding I decided to set up HOLIDAY DOGS, with the help of my chosen dog loving host families. I am now able to offer more and more owners peace of mind whilst they are away from home due to holidays, work etc. Each of my host families are genuine dog lovers and due to their working commitments being extrememly low, they are able to provide your dog with the ultimate care & comfort, giving you absolute peace of mind, flexibility and security. Each host family are fully insured and have been carefully selected by Holiday Dogs. Call Mary-Ann on 07712 270415 for more information, or visit www.holidaydogs.co.uk

Holiday Dogs Puppy Time

Getting a new puppy is an exciting time for all concerned and is important that you and your puppy get to know each other.  Do try and create a routine for mealtimes, potty breaks, playtime and walks.  Your puppy will adjust more easily if he knows what to expect and it will be easier to housetrain him as well.  No schedule needs to be set in stone, but a typical daily pattern will reach your puppy much more quickly what behaviours are acceptable and what aren't in your household.

My top tip of the day is to get your puppy accustomed to being handled as this is part of the socialisation process.  Your pup will have to be handled many times during his lifetime and if he is not used to this, it may provoke him to react with hostility.  During his lifespan, he'll have to be taken to the vet or to a dog groomer.  He'll also come into contact with adults and children who will try to pet or otherwise handle him.  If he is not taught how to react to handling he may display unusually violent behaviour and in certain cases may also retaliate by biting or nipping.  Therefore, getting your pooch used to being handled from a young age is vital!

You should try to set aside 5 minutes each day to handle your puppy, get him used to having his paws touched by lifting them and check to see if anything is stuck between the pads.  Lift and look inside the ears and examine his mouth.  If your puppy lets you handle him without too much ado, always reward him later with a treat.  This will reinforce the idea that positive things happen when he lets himself be handled without a fuss.

With this in mind, Holiday Dogs are offering a special puppy grooming service all from within a calm, relaxing environment with just one owner's dog(s) each time.  With the latest of technology including whisper quite hairdryers this will give the ideal first time grooming experience for any young puppy, setting a perfect example of what they can expect from future grooming sessions.  The grooming process can be as little or as much as you and your puppy require, from a simple wash and blow dry with a thorough brush through, to a little trim and toe nail cut if required.

Then as a special treat, your pup can have a 10 minute play with the Holiday Dogs Social Crew, hosted by Erice (cockerpoo) and Casper (poodle cross), great for socialising puppies within a controlled, relaxed and happy environment.
